OOOH listen to the music

Today, with good tidings, I bring to you my favorite new Christmas obsession. The record player.

Burley and I have had this puppy since last year, and we really enjoy it. Everything sounds better on vinyl.

However, this year, I have found the reason that vinyl was created....
Christmas.

There is something so romantic and prefect about putting in, even a bad Christmas album! It all sounds way more festive on vinyl. SO, I have been scrounging the thrift stores looking for more MORE MORE CHRISTMAS ALBUMS!

I thought I would share with you, a few of the finds.

This one was not a thrift store find. This was hand picked by Burley years ago, before he knew that Bing Crosby was my all-time family favorite. Sometimes the good Lord is just so good, you can't even fathom how good He is, and the tiny ways he shows you love through your spouse.

So there it is! This is pretty much the ongoing soundtrack to my Christmas season so far... Vinyl. While I clean the house, while I make dinner, while I play with the pup. It's just amazing, the mood it can set.

Go get some of your own and join me in the takeover! Also, let me know what you find :)

New Read

Hey Party People. I wanted to drop by to tell you what I have been doing with every ounce of my spare time since yesterday at 8pm MT.

My Mom suggested this book to me, and her description and passion in regards to its content was so inspiring, that our conversation ended with me standing outside the bookstore freezing and telling her I had to go, because I needed to buy the book (and I was freezing).

I am halfway through the book now, and I have to say... Geesh.

If you have never read anything by Brennan Manning... A. You should B. This is very different from his other books. This is his memoir afterall. He is an elderl man in fading health, but seriously... His words are just insane. So wise, so relevant, so honest. His story is one of hypocricy and power. I can't put it down.

I am not going to try and sum it up, because I am not as eloquent as he. You should just read the book.

I will share the intro to it here, so that you will have no choice but to go buy it.

"This book is by the one who thought he'd
be farther along by now, but he's not.
It is by the inmate who promised the parole
board he'd be good, but he wasn't.
It is by the dim-eyed who showed the path
to others but kept losing his way.
It is by the wet-brained who believed if a
little wine is good for the stomach,
then a lot is great.
It is by the liar, tramp, and thief; otherwise
known as the priest, speaker, and author.
It is by the disciple whose cheese slid
off his cracker so many times
he said "to hell with cheese 'n' crackers."
It is by the young at heart but old
of bone who is led these
days in a way he'd rather not go.

This books is also for the gentle ones
who've lived among wolves.
It is for those who've broken free of collar
to romp in fields of love and marriage and divorce.
It is for those who mourn, who've been
mourning most of their lives,
yet they hang on to shall be comforted.
It is for those who've dreamed of entertaining angels
but found instead a few friends of great price.
It is for the younger and elder prodigals
who've come to their senses
again, and again, and again, and again.
It is for those who strain at pious piffle
because they've been swallowed by Mercy itself.
This book is for myself and those who have been around
the block enough times that we dare to whisper
the ragamuffin's rumor -
all is grace."

Chevron Chair

Hey Guys!

I hope you had a grat weekend.
or great... whichever you prefer.
(funny errors are only funny when shared with others)

With all the craziness last week, I had time to do 1 tiny project in my kitchen. These chairs were SO old and nasty vintage, that when we decided to have friends over for dinner on Thursday, I made myself bust into action and get them updated.

I got increasingly stressed as dinner closed in on us, so Burley made me sit down and think about my actions.

"Sweetheart - Normal 'Let's have so-and-so over for dinner' includes cooking up some dinner, vaccuming the rugs and lighting a few candles.... Not sanding/re-painting/re-apholstering furniture"

Lesson Learned.

But still... look at these awesome chairs that were birthed out of all that sweat!
I think I win in the end.

Wham bam.

That's all I got for you today. Now it's off to the grocery store to prepare for the FEAST!!!

Turkey Week: The FINAL Day!!

Can you believe that this week has already flown by? I can't..

Ok the truth is that I can. This week felt really long. Luckily, I really was enjoying Turkey Week, so it got me through some hard times.

Today... I was going to share some recipes with you, on things that you can do with your Thanksgiving Day leftovers. However, last night I made this really amazing card, and so I have decided to share IT with you instead.
I suppose I can just switch things around like that. I hope you don't hate me.

So here goes...

AND THANKS FOR TUNING IN THIS WEEK!

To Make:

Glue Stick
Scissors
2 Different Patterned Fabrics
Sewing Machine & Thread
Plain Greeting Cards/Envelopes

These were my test runs, before I decided to keep the stitching simple

And there it is folks! The "better than leftovers" greeting card.

Thanks for stopping by this week. Seriously. I really appreciate each and everyone of you!

I hope you have an incredible weekend as we ring in THANKSGIVING WEEK!
